"Trials: Jamila Bouhired" won the Best Documentary Feature award at the New York International Film Awards (NYIFA) in January 2026, in recognition of excellence in filmmaking. SEEN Film produced this work as part of the "Trials" series — a documentary drama that reconstructs landmark historical trials using original court transcripts and authenticated documents. The series has now earned four international awards across three continents.
Best Documentary – London Independent Film Awards
"Jamila Bouhired" from the "Trials" series won the Best Documentary award at the London Independent Film Awards (LIFA) for November 2025. The jury praised the masterful documentary-drama treatment of the trial of the Algerian freedom fighter, and the deep visual and historical narrative that earned critical acclaim at the international festival. SEEN Film produced three episodes of "Trials," a series that relies on original court session transcripts and authenticated historical documents to re-enact the trials with precision. LIFA is a monthly international cinematic platform based in the United Kingdom, dedicated to celebrating independent filmmakers from around the world.
Two Awards at South Film & Arts Academy Festival
"Jamila Bouhired" from the "Trials" series won two prestigious awards at the South Film & Arts Academy Festival (SFAAF): Best Documentary Film and Best Director. The award-winning episode focused on the trial of Algerian revolution icon Jamila Bouhired before the French colonial judiciary, highlighting her legendary courage and her defense arguments that became an indictment of colonialism itself. SEEN Film produced three episodes of "Trials" — a documentary drama series that reconstructs the most famous historical and political trials that formed turning points in collective consciousness.
